Mapleton Minor Soccer Information – 2025

www.mapletonminorsoccer.ca

The Mapleton Minor Soccer executive welcomes you to the 2025 season! We offer a safe, friendly, athletic and fair play environment for all players. Players are categorized by age, gender and teams are chosen randomly. We do our best to have an even mix of boys and girls where possible, and coaches are assigned as available. Teams will NOT be reshuffled once this process has been completed.

NEW FOR 2025 - GENDER SPECIFIC TEAMS

Disclaimer for Gender-Specific Teams

North Perth Soccer League (NPSL) is moving towards gender-specific teams for all age groups. Registration will be available for male and female teams across all age categories U6 - U19.

In the event that a full team for either gender in a particular age group cannot be fielded, players will have the following options:

1.     Join with the closest other NPSL club to form a team.

2.     Play as part of a co-ed team for that age group. However, the majority of teams in the co-ed league may be all male.

3.     Receive a refund of the registration fee.

We understand that fielding gender-specific teams may take a few years to build a strong base in all age groups. Please understand that we are moving in this direction to help with skill development, to encourage more engagement, and to provide a pathway to competitive soccer for players in our communities.

Little Sparks - U3 (Born 2022)

This age level is getting the children ready for soccer. This will be some skill building through obstacle courses, learning to stretch, and soccer drills. It is policy that a parent or adult guardian is in attendance at all times. Parental involvement is required on the field. This program is currently done in partnership with Mapleton Firefighters. This program takes place on Wednesdays at 5:30pm

Kiddie Kicker - U4/5 and U6 (Born 2019 to 2021)
The U4/5 and U6 levels choose to play only in Drayton on Thursdays at 6:30. The first half hour is for practice and the second half hour a small game is played. U4/5 and U6 players are also known as Kiddie Kickers. It is policy that a parent or adult guardian is in attendance at all times. Parental involvement is required. Timbit uniforms are provided to Kiddie Kicker players, pending a successful application to Tim Hortons. There will be a year end festival for U6 players. Gender specific teams are hopeful beginning with the U6 level .

U8 and up (born 2006 - 2018)
These age groups play on fields throughout the North Perth league (npsl.ca) . This league has clubs from Mapleton, Palmerston, Wallace, Newton, Elma, Listowel, Brussels and Howick. Practice nights will be determined based on field availability and the coach’s schedule.

Fees
Fees are listed under the Registration tab.  This includes use of fields and the use of a uniform shirt (unless provided a Timbits uniform). Kiddie Kickers receive a medallion. If funding is available, Timbits uniforms will be available to Kiddie Kickers and U8 players.  Parents supply shorts, soccer cleats and shin pads.

Game/Practice Nights
Games begin mid May for all levels U8 and older, weather permitting. Practice a week or two before that pending field conditions. Practice nights are a week night chosen by the coach. Players will be informed of this once we have enough coaches and teams are assigned. Most games start at 7:00. (Kiddie Kickers at 6:30)

Game nights are:

·       Monday: U10 and U19

·       Tuesday: U8, U12

·       Wednesday: U14 and U3 (Little Sparks)

·       Thursday: U4/5 and U6 (Kiddie Kickers), U16

Equipment and Uniforms

All players U8 and older must wear shin guards that go from the ankle to just below the knee. Timbit uniforms are provided to U8 players, pending a successful application to Tim Hortons. A team jersey is provided to each player (that does not receive a Timbits uniform). These must be returned on the last day of soccer to your coach.  There will be a pick-up time when the coaches return their equipment.

Please provide black soccer socks and black shorts for your child. Soccer shoes are recommended. Cleats are optional and cannot be metal.

Pictures/Trophies
Team/Individual photos will be taken early in the season  - dates to be confirmed. Pricing and details to come.

Parental Involvement
Coaches and assistant coaches are required at every level, as well as new members of the executive. Without these volunteers, we cannot have a soccer program. If you would like to help out, please contact us at [email protected] Please put your contact information directly in your email.
